- note: this orchid species has never been reported in Manitoba, not until these 7 plants were found recently on the banks of the Seine River in southern Winnipeg by Paul Mutch of the City of Winnipeg Naturalist Services Branch while carrying out a plant survey along the Seine River;  he recognized it as an orchid and asked Lorne Heshka to identify it;  native to Europe, this species has been present in Eastern North America for some time, also on the west coast and a few other isolated locations;  see the FNA's Distribution Map for this species.
