-- Mystery-plant with flower-like parts that are not flowers: Doris first thought it could be leafy spurge, with those flower-like parts without sex-organs being the remnants of the cyathia after the seeds are gone -- the 2nd part of her explanation seems plausible however leafy spurge has a 4-lobed cyathium;  Doris now says Mirabilis linearis (narrowleaf umbrellawort), which has such a 5-lobed involucre;
-- Western spiderwort: finding both pink and blue flowers on the same plant rules out splitting them into forma by flower-colour, so I ought to reword my captions;
